Almost one year after The Ohio State University Medical Center became the Wexner Medical Center at The Ohio State University, the cost of the change has yet to be revealed. The Medical Center is still working to make the signs and logos match the new title, but any budget for those changes is not readily available.
Booze brings big business and millions of dollars to numerous stores near Ohio State campus, but which ones earned the most in fiscal year 2012 might be surprising to some.
Just 11 days before Christmas, on Dec. 14, Adam Lanza forced his way into Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn. Twenty-year-old Lanza opened fire in the school killing 20 children, six adults and then himself. The massacre that occurred at Sandy Hook is a tragedy. It has also been the catalyst that has driven many acts of kindness, encouraging words and heated debates within government about gun control and violence.
When an Ohio State student dies, friends and family often don’t know what to do. That’s where representatives from the OSU Student Advocacy Center come in. Student Life’s Student Advocacy Center acts as the university liaison between OSU and the student’s family and friends when a student dies.
Rape isn’t taken lightly at Ohio State, but officials said reporting it can be a difficult decision for many victims. “The university takes this very seriously,” said Dave Isaacs, spokesman for the OSU Office of Student Life.
A female student reported a rape from the Neil Avenue building on Ohio State’s campus last weekend. The incident is still under investigation, and Chief Paul Denton of OSU Police could not say when the assault took place or if the victim knew the suspect.
Ohio State students pay a $37.50 student activity fee every semester to be distributed among services for students. The money’s allocation and the decision behind the process, however, is a conversation that keeps many students in the dark.
Voters at the Ohio Union were met with long lines on Election Day. One voting precinct in Franklin County has a polling location inside the Union, which became a popular polling site for more than 3,000 Ohio State students and campus-area residents.
It’s all coming down to Ohio. This year has brought multiple visits by President Barack Obama, Vice President Joe Biden, Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney and his running mate Paul Ryan to the Buckeye state. The candidates will descend upon Ohio once more for the final day of campaigning Monday.
